About Care for All

Care for All is a new nonprofit sexual and reproductive health clinic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Our mission is to provide quality abortion care and other reproductive and sexual health services to people of all needs and backgrounds, regardless of ability to pay. Our vision is to expand access to sexual and reproductive health care for all in Milwaukee and southeast Wisconsin within a reproductive justice framework. Our guiding philosophy is to provide an experience of abortion care that is holistic, accessible, and inclusive. Our goal is to not turn a single person away, but rather to meet clients where they are and provide the information, referrals, and guidance necessary to serve the whole individual.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will have a passion for sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion. Registered nurses will perform ultrasounds, blood draws, place IVs, and other clinical skills. The Registered Nurse role includes pre- and post-abortion care, and collaboration with client care workers and physicians to assure patients are stable and cleared for discharge. Registered nurses will follow health and safety guidelines faithfully and consistently, specifically adhering to the Wisconsin regulations. Care for All is a small team and staff will wear many hats and not hesitate to help out team members. Eligible candidates require a nursing degree.

Schedule

Clinic days will be Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. We encourage you to apply if you can work at least three of those days. Working all four clinic days would equate to full-time employment. Three days or less would be part-time.

Compensation

$45.00 per hour. Full-time staff are guaranteed 32 hours per week (annual minimum of $74,880)

Additional $1.00 per hour for bilingual speakers (English/Spanish)

Required Nursing Qualifications

  • Nursing degree and Wisconsin nursing license in good standing

  • BLS Certification or willing to obtain within 90 days

  • Maintain current Continuing Education Units (CEU) in compliance with RN licensure

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Proficiency with Google Suite preferred

  • Experience with an electronic medical record preferred (we will be using Athena Health)

  • Experience doing pregnancy ultrasounds

  • Experience with moderate sedation

  • Knowledge of emergency care in an outpatient setting

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

All Staff

  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively to ensure cohesive and client-centered, trauma-informed abortion care.

  • Foster a culture of teamwork and open communication within the team.

  • Participate in continuing education and professional development.

Administrative

  • Within the electronic medical record (EMR) maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions, documenting medical assessments, procedures, follow-up care, and support service and adhere to ethical and legal confidentiality standards.

  • Address client questions and concerns compassionately, providing detailed information about abortion services, procedures, preparation, and post-procedure care.

  • Collaborate with internal and external resources to facilitate client navigation.

Clinical

  • Conduct thorough medical assessments of patients to determine eligibility for abortion services.

  • Monitor patient’s condition and assess their needs to provide the best possible care and advice.

  • Perform point of care ultrasound in pregnancy (formal training will be provided).

  • Perform lab tests (ex. urine pregnancy testing) and vitals monitoring under supervision of licensed clinicians.

  • Perform blood draws and IV placement.

  • Administer moderate sedation (formal training will be provided).

  • Counsel in abortion and family planning services.

  • Collaborate with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients.

  • Adjust and administer patient’s medication and provide treatments according to physician’s orders.

  • Assist physician during exams and procedures.

  • Observe and interpret patient’s symptoms and communicate them to physicians.

  • Provide instant medical care in emergencies.

  • Perform routine cleaning and maintain excellent hygiene and safety (sterilizing of medical equipment and supplies, sanitizing surfaces, etc.).

  • Clean and stock procedure rooms between patients.

  • Manage medical supply inventory.

  • Comply with all safety and emergency policies and procedures.

  • Maintain knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination etc.) and follow them at all times.

  • Adhere to established clinical protocols, guidelines and quality assurance standards, ensuring patient safety.

Clearance

You must complete Care for All’s medical clearance requirements, which include, but may not be limited to, evidence of immunity to MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and a TB screen.

All Care for All employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Must be able to stand 75% of time.

Able to move boxes or equipment up to 30 pounds. Job duties will primarily be indoors in a medical and office environment.

Constantly operate office equipment such as a computer, phone, and copy machine.

Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and in a way that others will understand.

Working Conditions

The position is generally performed in a medical office environment but involves frequent interruptions. The noise level is usually moderate. The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
